Psalm 46:10  “Be still and know that I am God.”

Come join us in Advent for an Introduction to Centering Prayer. In the Christian tradition, Contemplative Prayer is considered to be the pure gift of God. Centering Prayer is a way to facilitate the development of Contemplative Prayer by preparing us in body, mind, and spirit, to receive this gift.

Centering Prayer is based on the wisdom saying of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount :

“…But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you” MT 6:6

For three weeks in Advent, as we look forward to the coming of the child, Jesus the Christ, you are invited to join us in this ancient practice of opening of mind and heart – our whole being – to God, the Ultimate Mystery, beyond thoughts, words, and emotions. Elizabeth Holland and the Rev. Annie Ryder will be our teachers. Please join us at the Grace Church Office 67 State Road, Great Barrington on Thursdays, December 3, 10, and 17 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. You are invited to bring a journal. We look forward to journeying together.
