In her book Learning to Walk in the Dark, Barbara Brown Taylor, an Episcopal priest and college instructor, writes about what so many of us have learned to fear—the darkness.  In the book jacket cover she says,

“Darkness is shorthand for anything that scares me—either because I am sure that I do not have the resources to survive it or because I do not want to find out…The problem is this, when, despite all my best efforts, the lights have gone off in my life…I have learned things in the dark that I could never have learned in the light, things that have saved my life over and over again.”

Join us on an Advent journey into the darkness as we search for God, or let God find us.  We will be using Barbara Brown Taylor’s book to lead us. I have purchased 10 copies at $17. You can buy one from me, buy it for yourself on Kindle, borrow a friends’ copy, or borrow it at the library. For our first gathering, try to read the Introduction: Treasures of Darkness (pp.1-17) and Who’s Afraid of the Dark? (pp. 19-38).

We will gather Wednesday nights December 3, 10, and 17 at 7:00-8:15 pm at the Church Office 67 State Road. (Around the side. Look for the Episcopal Flag.) You do not need to sign up—just come when you can. You are always welcome.  I look forward to discovering with you in Advent the treasures that wait for us in the darkness.
